Craniosacral Therapy

The Craniosacral Approach

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on approach intended to facilitate the release of restrictions and tensions in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction. CST may relieve symptoms, including migraines, headaches, shoulder pain and post-concussion syndrome, among many others. It may help with the physical components of somatic conditions such as post-traumatic stress, depression, and anxiety. CST is also beneficial for treating babies. Difficulty nursing can result from tensions and restrictions in the baby's head, spine, or body. These restrictions may develop by pressures experienced during late pregnancy and the forces of birth.

How does Craniosacral Therapy Work?

The brain and spinal cord comprise the central nervous system and are influenced by the craniosacral system - the membranes and fluid surrounding, protecting, and nourishing the brain and spinal cord. The CST practitioner uses a light touch to examine the membranes and the movement of fluids in and around the central nervous system. Normalizing the brain and spinal cord environment with soft-touch techniques enhances the body's ability to self-correct. Releasing tension in the central nervous system promotes well-being by reducing resistance patterns and boosting health and immunity.
